How to Spot a Fake APK Before You Install It
A quick checklist for verifying that the APK you're about to install is the real thing.

APK downloads are safe when you know what to check. Here's the short checklist we use internally before any listing goes live on DroidSaga.
Check the package name
Every legitimate app has a consistent package name, shown on its listing page. If it doesn't match what the developer publishes elsewhere, stop.
Review requested permissions
A flashlight app asking for contacts access is a red flag. Compare the permissions list against what the app actually needs to do.
Prefer listings with version history
A visible changelog and release history is a good sign the listing is actively maintained, not a one-off upload.
